As the new year starts you can’t help but think about things you want to change or leave in the past.

This is always a healthy exercise so whether you set resolutions or goals for the new year it’s really just a personal preference.

The key is taking thoughtful time to reflect on your past, get closure and have a plan for the year. For me that means reviewing and celebrating accomplishments from the past year as an expression of gratitude for what has gone well. Next there is an assessment of what could improve including learning lessons from the challenges. These lessons may become goals for the new year.

The reason I feel so strongly about adopting some type of annual planning for your business and personal life is the statement it makes. You are taking control of your destination and journey versus leaving it up to chance.

Without a plan there are multiple ways to get to a destination, but why not chart the one that will get you there the quickest, cheapest and with least amount of headache?

That is the ultimate goal of my annual planning process and for my followers I’ve created a one-page checklist version you can download now. January is just underway so it’s a great time to complete the checklist and take control of the course of your life in 2017.

Even with great planning you may veer off-course. The plan just helps you recognize the detour quickly and maybe even enjoy the unexpected adventure.

I look forward to the opportunity 2017 brings and hope you enjoy the journey.

Is finding more time or getting more done in 2017 one of your goals? If yes, I invite you to check out our online course, Plan, Produce and Play: Time Management Skills & Productivity Tips. Implementing the strategies shared in the lessons has saved me 24 hours per week. Allowing me to accomplish more goals in my business while working fewer hours! If I can do it so can you so find out more about Plan, Produce & Play.
